Did they not test this on babies?, December 5, 2004
By

This review is from: Tiny Love Developlay Activity Center (Baby Product)

My son loved his Tiny Love mobile, and I thought the activity center would be a nice replacement when he grew out of it at 5 months.

Well, not so much. The supposedly simple side for younger babies features a musical smiley face button and a squeaker that require LOTS of force to make them work. My son is now 7 months old and he still can’t operate them. (But he CAN use the little squeaker on the other side!) The knocker with the rattle also needs a lot of force, and even if you do manage to move it, it hardly produces any sound as it only moves a fraction of an inch. The two spinners are great and he loves those, but you can get those on any activity center. The unit is quite tall, and so far, whether lying in his playpen or sitting on the floor, he can only reach these bottom two toys.

On the other side, the toy that pops out and giggles is a lovely idea but we just can’t get that door close and STAY closed. I went to a store and tried every one on the shelf and they all had the same problem. So he can’t play with that feature either, really. And you need to move the lever for the spinner just so, at the right speed and with the right amount of force if you want the disc to spin.

Then, most disappointing of all, there’s the music. The horrible, frenetic, tinny, nasty music that was such a shock after having the Symphony in Motion mobile. It sounded so bad that I was sure the batteries had run down, but even after replacing them it sounds the same – cheap and incredibly irritating. As did all the other models in the toy store.

On the plus side, the toy is really solid, made of good quality plastic, and the colours and the design are lovely and bright and attractive.

It’s outrageously expensive – I live in Europe so we paid about for it – especially considering most of the activities are useless. I’m quite annoyed that poor old Grandad shelled out so much money for it, and didn’t keep the receipt. We actually get more fun out of the old FP activity center we bought on ebay for a couple of dollars to keep at Grandma’s. Lesson learned – new and expensive isn’t always best!

Hours of Fun!, August 22, 2003

= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tiny Love Developlay Activity Center (Baby Product)

My wife bought this Activity Center because we love the Tiny Love toys, and with this one we were not disappointed. Our son plays on this for hours, both sides. We were somewhat disappointed that more than just two songs are available, and after time, you will be humming them in your sleep. The only concern I had with this toy was the two small yellow plastic loopholes on the bottom of the toy. While flipping it over, hung or not on his pack and play, one of my son’s fingers would get stuck in the hole and he could not figure how to remove it – tight fit. He would then panic and bend his finger back, causing him to cry out in pain or distress. I removed the loops and filed them down so this would not happen again. Not sure why they are there. Despite this, this is a great toy.

Nothing special, June 24, 2006
By

This review is from: Tiny Love Developlay Activity Center (Baby Product)

We’ve received this toy as a gift from our friends and i liked the idea of 2 sides (is like having 2 new toys at once). But then, when we tried playing with it i didn’t like several things:

1) side 1

– has a really hard to squeak thing,

– hard to pull hammer

– pretty far located smiley face so the baby playing with it as an activity table (not crib mounted) won’t easily reach and press it

– smiley face could have more than 1 melody playing

It results in that side having only 3 things to play for the baby at 6-8 months: spinning flower, spinning ball and a mirror

2) side 2

– the most i don’t like in this toy (both sides) is the music of those 4 musical instruments buttons. It sounds not like it’s a baby toy but like it’s some kind of tool to horrify the baby. We have pretty much musical toys and none of them has the music which is soooo unpleasant. My baby just looks at tose buttons as she looks at strangers she doesn’t like.

– pop-up thing – could have a better holding door (opens easily) and prettier “animal” inside.

– the squeaky knob on this side is hard to push even for me.

To summarize i’ll just say that as for me even 2 sides are not worth the money!

I don’t like it at all!

Outstanding Ozzie Orange!!!, December 22, 2006
This review is from: Tiny Love Fruity Pals Ozzie Orange (Toy)

When I purchased Ozzie, I had seen pictures of him, but I wasn’t able to find a description that really explained all that Ozzie has to offer. So, in case you’re wondering, I’ve included a description of Ozzie:

1. First of all, I thought he was going to be a small hanging toy. Ozzie is not small. In fact, I would say he’s a medium to large sized hanging toy for a baby. He measures about 10 inches long (not including the hanging ring.) This was a pleasant surprise, because our baby is able to grasp and hold on to Ozzie’s features.
2. Ozzie’s body is a plush, orange sphere. His body is divided into quarters (like orange slices). The baby can separate the quarters to reveal a colorful interior of pink, blue, yellow, and green. The quarters do not separate completely, so you don’t have to worry about losing pieces of the orange.
3. In the center of Ozzie’s interior is a small orange ball with a happy face (kind of like a baby orange.) When you pull the ball, it causes the toy to vibrate. My son is 5 months old, and he is not coordinated enough to pull this ball himself. But, he is starting to make some sense of the cause-effect thing, so I pull the baby orange for him, and he laughs and waits for me to help him do it again. I do think that Ozzie can help with teaching the cause-effect relationship to small babies.
4. Each orange quarter is very slightly magnetized so that the slices fit back and hold together.
5. Ozzie has two arms that are stretchy. On the end of each arm is a purple “hand” made of a rubbery textured material that the baby can chew on. This is our son’s favorite Ozzie-part right now.
6. Ozzie has two legs that are stretchy. Each leg has plastic rings around them, and the feet have mirrors on the bottoms.
7. A plastic ring is included for attaching Ozzie to a stroller, play gym, etc. The ring can be removed. It is definitely large enough to fit most (if not all) stroller bars and car seat bars.
8. There are some bells inside of Ozzie that produce a nice, light jingling noise. No loud music, no lights, just a simple jingle.
8. According to the instructions, Ozzie cannot be submerged in water, so he is not machine washable. However, I have washed Ozzie several times on the cold, gentle cycle in my washing machine. I hang him to dry, and he’s come out perfectly fine. I would not put him in the dryer.
9. No batteries required. YAY!

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS: We ordered Ozzie and Anna Banana at the same time. The Tiny Love Fruity Pals seem like really great toys for babies, and I would definitely recommend them. I especially like that these toys do not talk or light up. We like the toys with lights and sounds, but it’s also nice to have some things that are a bit more quiet. Right now, our son is talking to Ozzie about something very interesting. 🙂 He’s found Ozzie’s manufacturer’s tag, and he’s chewing on it. He’s already chewed the hands and loves for me to pull the baby orange inside. He hasn’t quite mastered separating the quarters himself, but he’s starting to figure it out. I think this toy is very engaging and appropriate for a 4-5 month old. Additionally, Ozzie seems like a great toy to grow with our son for many months to come.

Cute, simple, durable, October 30, 2006
By

This review is from: Tiny Love Fruity Pals Ozzie Orange (Toy)

We bought this toy for our daughter three years ago and she loved it. It endured incredibly well, being her favorite “going out” toy. Now our son is using it for the same purpose and the toy is just as beloved.

It requires no batteries but it is recommended surface wash only. We’ve washed it in the machine and it’s come out fine. It has lots of chewable spots, is soft, has a pull-tab “baby” inside and keeps little ones busy in several ways.

We call ours “Mister Pumpkin,” since it looks more like a pumpkin than an orange. Mister Pumpkin has been through a lot and looks pretty darn good. This is a great investment and will be loved and used by your little ones for years.

Fantastic!, August 15, 2004
By
Suzanne “J’s mommy” (Kent, WA United States) – See all my reviews

We found this banana while looking for car seat/stroller toys. My Niece and I were looking at it and showing it to my 5 month old son. We decided to put it back and look around some more. As soon as it left his vision my baby started crying. It’s the first time he’s “asked” for a toy. So I bought it. I expected him to lose interest quickly, but he hasn’t. We take it everywhere. He loves the crinkly peel and the chewy hands. He hasn’t discovered the little mirrors on the feet yet, but i have no doubt he will love those too. So far it’s been a great buy.

Great Product!, May 2, 2009
This review is from: Fisher-Price Precious Planet 2-in-1 Projection Mobile (Baby Product)

We moved our baby girl into her crib at 2 months, and it was also her first night with her projection mobile. She loved it! She’s 3.5 months now, and she still talks to her animals every night as she’s falling asleep. We always put her to bed while she’s still awake, and she falls asleep talking. This is one of the top 5 baby items I wouldn’t want to be without!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Fisher-Price Precious Planet 2-in-1 Projection Mobile (Baby Product)

We purchased this for our newborn daughter and in the beginning I loved it. It calmed her down for bedtime and was a great part of our bedtime routine. 2 months after I bought it, the motor burned out-the mobile stopped turning and the projection stopped moving RIGHT BEFORE BEDTIME!!! Great timing! I thought I had just bought a lemon, so I purchased another on the next day. 4 weeks later it did the same exact thing, right before bedtime again. I don’t know if it’s some cruel joke the company is playing on me, but I’m not laughing. I did find out that Fisher Price offers a one year warranty on their items, but it’s still a pain as they won’t send me a new one until they get my broken item, so the entire process will take about 4-6 weeks.

Great Mobile & Projection!!!, April 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Fisher-Price Precious Planet 2-in-1 Projection Mobile (Baby Product)

I purchased this for my son when he was about 3 months old and trying to get him to fall asleep on his own. I probably should have purchased it sooner so, as not to introduce a new mobile all of a sudden. It took him a few days to get use to it but he really likes it now. It would have been ideal to use from birth on so, the heartbeat sound could soothe him but, we mostly use the classical music. As for getting him to fall asleep on his own sometimes, it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I guess circumstances have to be perfect. I can’t wait to remove the mobile and use it as a projection on the ceiling, I know he’ll love it! All three sound options are great and I like that it comes with a remote which really comes in handy. All in all I would highly recommend and definitely saving for my second baby and using from birth on. As for it attaching to the crib it worked out perfect and we have a 3 in 1 convertible crib from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child with a wide rail. A definite must have for baby!!
